CFRC Funding Opportunities

The CFRC is comprised of 50 faculty members from ten departments, who provide research strengths in areas ranging from basic science to clinical investigations. Its members garner more than $13 M/yr in extramural grants and contracts to support our CF research efforts.

2022 CFRC Impact Grants

The University of Pittsburgh Cystic Fibrosis Research Center (CFRC) is excited to announce the third annual Impact Award Program, a grant program aimed at inspiring innovation by trainees performing CF related research.  The CFRC supports a broad spectrum of interactive, timely, and significant projects that are in line with our mission of developing improved clinical treatments for CF.

In 2022, we will fund at least two research awards of up to $5,500 to Ph.D. students, medical students, fellows, or postdoctoral researchers from the University of Pittsburgh.

The Impact Grants can take two forms: 1) funding for new projects conceptualized by trainees building from their current work and in need of seed funding, or 2) funding for travel to learn a new technique that will advance and elevate the research project of the trainee.  (Travel for conference attendance and salary support will not be considered.)

Applications are due on May 1, 2022 at 5pm, submitted to Tim Corcoran (tec23@pitt.edu). Applications will be reviewed, and awardees notified by June 1, with award start on July 1, 2022. The Center will not provide written critiques of applications. Award finalists will be required to present plans for their award to the annual external advisory committee meeting for the CFRC in the fall of 2022 and results from the funding in 2023.

For more information, email Tim Corcoran (tec23@pitt.edu).
